Thermogenic Spices are said to increase your body heat, speed up metabolism and even help with inflammation.
So, I thought I’d add them to my morning coffee. There are lots of amazing versions of spiced coffee out there, but every “recipe” I found was also full of sugar. I don’t want to waste my sugar intake where I don’t need it, so I drink a simpler version –
Cup of SFB Espresso Roast Coffee
Pinch of cinnamon
1 green cardamom pod (I crush it before dropping it in)
1 scoop of Collagen Peptides
A healthy dose of Heavy Cream
That’s it – I stir it up and start drinking.
This might not work for those that will be annoyed with that cardamom pod in your cup, but for me; it isn’t any more annoying than a tea bag would be.
However; on days when I have a little more time – I’ll actually warm the cream in a small pan with the cinnamon and cardamom (warm, not boil or get too hot). Then right before I add it to my coffee, I’ll strain out the cardamom. This is a good way to get the flavor of the cardamom without any little “pieces” in your cup.
I’ve been drinking my AM coffee this way for a few months now and still going strong. I do use SFB compostable Espresso pods in my machine, or if I’m using the re-usable pod; I grind roasted beans. We got some great roasted beans from a friend that make a good strong cup.
You could always add a drop of honey if you absolutely require more sweetness. For me, the cream tends to have enough sweetness for my daily needs.
